We are extremely excited to announce our latest in-store project entitled ‘The Gallery’,
a beautiful space for our brand sofa range.
In a nutshell, our interior designer was briefed to create two galleries, one in each of our stores - where the decor and ambience was required to echo the quality of the upholstery.
Essentially this blog is an exclusive sneek peek / making of, focussing on our Great Yarmouth gallery.
Firstly a totally new backdrop was commissioned using period colours, panelled walls and bare flooring.
Our Great Yarmouth store generally emits a brightly lit and fresh environment, so stepping into our new display is like entering another world, another time.
Enhancing the period back drop, a variety of bygone accessories have been set around modern sofas and dining sets. The contemporary seating includes fabric and leather models which individually feature brass studs, chrome, button back, low line and customer-design ranges with fabric colours and styles drawn from every era.
They sit on bare concrete floors, punctuated with modern rugs. The lighting is deliberately atmospheric, using contemporary bases and reflectors fitted with vintage Edison type, oversize bulbs which emit a soft warm light.
There is no getting away from the fact that the seating is contemporary, but how well it slips into this retro shabby chic setting may surprise you. Modern fabric patterns and colours co-exist with upturned packing cases, trunks and sea chests, brought in to serve as side tables and coffee tables. Large velvet cushions in contrasting colours and textures are scattered over the sofas and chairs.
Dining tables and chairs, shabby chic, distressed and pristine, are set against the wood panelling and accessorised with solid brass or wooden candlesticks. Grecian style urns with spring or summer flowers in, form the table centre pieces, all illuminated with the same soft lighting.
Thanks to all of the Better Furniture team who have contributed to bringing our gallery designs to life - we hope you can see them first hand.
