Small fixed top tables are available for two or four diners or for a small room. Extending tables cope with more diners, only being extended when necessary. They are available as round and oval in addition to the more usual rectangular tables. The extending table is a most versatile example. When closed, it takes up minimum floor space but is big enough to seat four or six people. As the need arises, the extension(s) can be brought into play to seat a further two or four people in comfort.
